Emily "Susie" Bryan, age 71, of Texas City, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017. A native of Galveston, Emily spent many wonderful years working as a nurse at UTMB in Galveston.
In 1990, Emily was incredibly blessed to find and marry the love of her life, Richard Bryan. Over the next 27 years, Emily and Richard were nearly inseparable, loving each other unwaveringly while raising their blended family. Emily thoroughly enjoyed learning about history, reading medical publications, listening to music, exploring her ancestry, shopping for antiques and rescuing stray animals. She was a woman of faith who reveled in her ongoing spiritual journey.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lena Houston Dudley; daughter, Tawn Hayes; and siblings: Estelle Adams, Tillie Watkins, Ruby Crater, Ceny Hans, Buster Hans and Frankie Herrin.
Emily is survived by her husband, Richard Bryan; son, Charles Willis, and wife, Suong Nguyen; son, Stephen Willis, and girlfriend, Tracy Thornton; son, Richard Donald and wife, Kim; son, Jason Bryan and wife, Beth; son, Jacob Bryan; daughter, Lisa Cyr, and husband, Raymond; brother, Earl Hans, and wife, Mary; sister, Marie Shows; and numerous grandchildren: Casey Marcum, Erica Bryan, Jacob Bryan, Richard Keith Bryan, Alexis Bryan, Ilena Bryan, Cameron Bryan, Erica Pleasant, Ryan Camp, Ray Cyr, Tori Cyr and Justin Cyr.
Emily's family and friends will receive visitors from 3:00 until 7:00 pm, Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 5th, at 1:00 p.m. at Galveston Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock.
