Elige Wesley “Bud” Parker, Jr. of Houston, Texas passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the age of 78.  After several months of declining health, he died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family members.

Bud is survived by his children, Stephen and Merita Parker, Allen and Noelle Parker, Susan and David Benner, David and Keek Parker and their mother, Carol Parker; grandchildren, Garrett, Grant and Mason Parker, Austin, Kelsey and Dylan Parker, Rachel, Parker, Kathleen and Brian Benner and Hannah and Keeley Parker; sister, Scooter Durdin and husband Richard Durdin and sisters-in-law, Sheryl Parker and Joan Upchurch.  He was preceded in death by his parents Patricia and Elige Parker and his younger brother Jim Parker.

Born in Houston, Texas on October 11, 1942, Bud called Southeast Texas and South Louisiana home for much of his life.  After graduating from Lafayette High School (Lafayette, LA) in 1960, Bud enlisted in the Air Force where, among other things, he developed his interest in computers and customer service.  He then returned to Lafayette to marry Carol in 1964 and start their family.  In 1984, Bud and Carol moved their family to Beaverton, Oregon as Bud accepted a promotion at Floating Point Systems (“FPS”) to lead their customer service group.  After leaving FPS and the professional world, Bud drove a school bus for nine years; one of his more rewarding experiences.  Bud and Carol fell in love with the Pacific Northwest and called the area home for over 30 years.  In 2016, he returned to his hometown of Houston and rekindled old friendships and made many new ones.  Bud enjoyed the outdoors including, camping, fishing, golf and gardening.  He was also an avid sports fan, a great outdoor cook, enjoyed playing games and loved dogs, especially his.

A private family service will be held at Mission Burial Park North cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the COPD Foundation, Southeastern Guide Dogs (provide service dogs for veterans) or a charity of your choice.
