EDITH MAE GRIFFEE
Edith Mae Griffee, 90, of Texas City, passed away on July 4, 2014 at the Bayou Pines Care Center in Texas City.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Emken Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. The visitation for Mrs. Griffee will be from 1:00 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock.
Edith was born January 23, 1924 to Nannie and Herbert McDowell of Virginia. She was a friendly outgoing person who truly never met a stranger. Edith loved crappie and bass fishing, RV camping and traveling across the USA with their friends and family.
She was a nurturer of many and has left a wonderful foundation for her growing family.
Edith was preceded in death by her most beloved husband of 72 years, Gus Edward Griffee. Their gracious and sweet love was a remarkable journey. On March 13, 2012 a proclamation was given by the Mayor of Texas City to Gus and Edith representing their 71 years of marriage and over 65 years of residency in Texas City.
She is survived by her son, Linden Edward Griffee, wife Katie of New Mexico, daughter Barbara Leigh Griffee Plasek of La Marque. Grandchildren, Melissa Worthem of Colorado, Scott Griffee of Houston, Karie and Victor Simpson of Arizona, Drew Plasek of Houston and Taylor Plasek of Fort Worth.Great grandchildren, Sora and Sage Griffee of Houston and Micaiah Griffee of Indiana. Sister in Law, Joann Letinich, nephews, Dale and Danny Brown of Houston and Chris Bentley of California.
Edith will always be remembered as an extremely kind, unselfish, loving and family oriented Wife, Mother and Grandmother, and known as one of the strongest women to all the lives she touched.
