It is with tremendous sadness our family announces the passing of Doyle Beard, 79, of Crockett (Latexo), Texas. A beloved Husband, cherished Father, adored Grandfather, and much-loved friend to many, Doyle passed away Friday, March 9th, 2018 at Clear Lake Regional Hospital in Webster, Texas surrounded by his loving family.

A Memorial Service for all friends, family, and loved ones will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Memorial Lutheran Church at 2021 29th Street, Texas City, Texas. Visitation will be Friday, March 16, 2018 from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, Texas.

Doyle was born November 28, 1938. After moving to Texas City as a teenager, Doyle graduated from Texas City High School in 1957. Doyle worked at Monsanto Chemical Company, later Sterling Chemicals for over 35 years. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve in the late 1950's. After retirement in early 1990's, Doyle pursued several true passions including traveling, the game of baseball and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. A founding member of Hardball Academy in League City, Doyle enjoyed nothing more than watching young people pursue their baseball dreams. Affectionately known to most family and friends as "Coach", he could always be found near a ballpark somewhere.

He is preceded in death by son David Doyle Beard, father Willie Beard, mother Maydelle Brown of Latexo, TX, and brother Vencie Beard.

Immediate survivors include his treasured wife of nearly 60 years, Joyce Ann (Mewis) Beard, brothers; Charles Beard and family, Michael with wife Lori Brown and family, son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Lisa Beard along with their children, Steven, Shelby and Tyler, and son Richie Beard with his children Cody, Jaxson, Riley, Cooper and Colt. Other survivors include uncle A.C. and aunt Marylois Neal and family, plus multiple in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many more extended family and loved ones.

Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Bolt, Richard Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Bob Hill, Brian Jolly, Gerald Jolly, and four grandsons, Cody, Steven, Tyler, and Jaxson Beard.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Doyle Beard Memorial Fund may be made to Hardball Academy, LLC - 501(c) Non-Profit and Scholarship account at www.hardballacademy.com. Funds will be specifically designated to help underprivileged youth with opportunities in baseball.
