David Rachel, 73, of Texas City, passed away November 20, 2011 at his residence.
Solomon wrote that God has set eternity in the hearts of men Ecc 3:11. David began living in eternity because he prayed to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at age 10 1947.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at EmkenLinton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 5:00 PM at Rice Cemetery in Rice, Texas. Visitation will be 5:007:00 PM, Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City.
Mr. Rachel was born December 26, 1937 in Maud, Texas. He taught school in Texarkana, Texas City, and Mart for 50 years. He was a tennis coach for 17 years. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Texas City and most recently First Baptist Church in Riesel, Texas. He earned a BA and MA from East Texas State University.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Winnie Rachel brothers, Ramon and Billy Rachel and niece, Ann Ware.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Fran Rachel of Texas City son Brett Rachel and wife Kristin of Grand Prairie, TX daughter Becky Rachel of Texas City sisters, Patricia Parker and husband Bill of Spokane, Washington, Rita Freeman and husband Roy of Texarkana, TX sisterinlaw Jeanelle Rachel of Greenville, TX and Farrel Nix and husband Eric of Meridan, Georgia special cousin Janis Brewer of Texarkana, TX grandchildren Caleb and Khloe.
