David Joseph Popoff (POP) 60 yrs old from Stafford, TX., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 5, 2025, in Valdez Alaska.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2025 with a visitation from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson.
David was born on May 26, 1964, in Los Angelas California. He had numerous occupations, which included being a Volunteer Fire Fighter in both California and Texas, a Deputy with the Galveston County Sheriff's Dept, Police Officer for the City of Stafford, Fire Marshall for the City of Marble Falls and the City of Stafford, OEM (Office of Emergency Management) for Brazoria County, Galveston County, The State of Texas and most recently he was the Training Manager of Public Safety for The Response Group in Cypress, Tx.
Throughout his career he received numerous awards and accolades. He was very passionate about teaching and instructing others who were driven to emergency response and incident command systems.
When he wasn't working (which was not very often) he enjoyed spending time with his wife Roni. When his boys were younger, he enjoyed coaching them in Hockey and Baseball. After they aged out, David would be consistently seen umpiring or refereeing games. He enjoyed spending time on cruises with his wife Roni.
He is proceeded in death by, Al & Mary Popoff, Sarah K & Pete Howard.
David is survived by his wife of 42 years, Veronica "Roni", his boys, Justin, Jarred, and Jacob; mother, Linda J. Webster; siblings, Mia Klein, Faith (Donald) Novella, and Josef Ortiz, as well as his in-laws, William & Rita Oakes, Randy Sanchez, Linda & Greg Morgan, and Nunee Oakes. Plus, so many more we can't name all the numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends he made during his time here on Earth.
Pallbearers are his boys, Justin, Jarred, and Jacob, Josef Ortiz, Greg Morgan, Randy Sanchez, and Nunee Oakes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any First Responder charity or a charity of your choice.
