David Lee Anderson, Sr. “Captain Dave”

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of David Lee Anderson (Captain Dave), who left us peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the age of 70. David Anderson was born on December 18, 1954, in Texas City, Texas.

David grew up in Texas City and graduated from Texas City High School in 1973, where he was a member of the Marching Band. As a young boy he spent most of his time fishing and surfing.

David worked for the Carpenters Union for many years and then retired from Valero after more than 20 years of service. David was a long-time member of the Southeast Texas Sport Fishing Association (SETSFA), where he found many life-long friends that he considered family. David loved hunting and fishing, was an avid outdoorsman, and had many good stories to tell. David also had a love for playing the guitar. He could be found many nights playing on his porch with friends, or with his dogs Zack and Zoey.

David is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Suddie Anderson. He is also preceded in death by his son Jason and his loyal duck hunting companion of many years, his dog, Maggie Mae.

He is survived by his brother Jerry Anderson and wife Timi, Nieces Jenny Doiron and Nikki Hite, Aunt Toy Glidden and his children which include David Jr., Sarah, Heath, Clint, Justin, and Derek, and multiple grandchildren (too many to name), many cousins, and friends that he called family.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 28, 2025, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, in Texas City, Texas. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday evening prior to the services.
