Daniel Gracia, Sr., age 67, of Texas City passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 30, 2017.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at St. Mary's of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church in Texas City. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017 with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m., at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.
Daniel Gracia, Sr. was born the oldest of 7 brothers and sisters in Gary, Indiana. He was a graduate of Texas City High School in 1968 and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served during the years of 1968-1970 and was a Vietnam Veteran where he received the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat V, Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device and Rifle Marksman Badge.
He worked for 34 years at Monsanto and Sterling Chemicals as an operator. He loved to cut the grass, BBQ, watch classic TV, listen to Elvis Presley and was a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys!
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Modesto Gracia and Rochelle Elston; brothers, Modesto Gracia, Jr., Joseph (Joey) Gracia and Robert (Bobby) Gracia.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Eloisa (Chito) Gracia; son, Daniel Gracia, Jr. and wife Laurette Gracia; daughter, Casilda Rose Gracia Rippard, and husband James Salem Rippard; son, Jacob Isaac Gracia: grandkids, Alyxis Samuel (Cliff), Skylar Rippard, Dallas Gracia, Baleigh Rose Gracia, Vincent Gracia, James Pablo Rippard and Brodie Cruz Rippard, Noel Ruiz Jr. (Cheyenne), Zachary Ruiz, Cortney Ruiz (Jonathan); great grandchildren, Noel Ruiz III, King Davis and Lana Marie Samuel.
Pallbearers are Daniel Gracia, Jr., Jacob Gracia, Gabriel Onofre, James S. Rippard, James P. Rippard, (Benny)Venancio Jaramillo.
Danny was always there for his family and friends. He never said no when someone needed his help. He will be missed and forever loved. We will miss you Danny. Book'em Dano and you finally made the paper!
