Charles Edward Lackey

Charles Edward Lackey, age 100, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 15, 2014. He was born in Eufala, Oklahoma July 8, 1913, then known as Indian Territory to James T. Lackey and Lennie Belle Wilkerson. He loved saltwater fishing, playing cards and gardening. He retired as supervisor from Fluor Corporation at the age of 67. He worked all over the world but was called out of retirement to go to Panama, his favorite of all jobs.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Amy Lackey and precious granddaughter Amy Lackey Barge.
He leaves behind his daughter Helen Parrish and his son Charles D. Lackey sister, Polly McKinley and her husband George grandchildren, Paula Brightwell, Stephen Oliver, Kathy Cappolino and Sam Mark Lackey eleven great grandchildren and numerous greatgreat grandchildren. He often referred of himself as a warhorse to his grandson Michael Langford and rightfully so after roofing his house at the age of ninetythree after a storm. When asked how he did it he answered, Ten shingles at a time grandbaby. His favorite song was Sentimental Journey and he has taken his sentimental journey home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at New Life Fellowship Church in Texas City. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 19, 2014 at EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City.
