CARRIE BORN BAKER

Carrie Born Baker, 88, passed from this life April 18, 2014 at UTMB in Galveston from a sudden stroke.

She was born June 14, 1925 in Texas City to the late William H. and Julia May Born. Carrie lived most of her life here in Texas City where she attended school and raised her family. Carrie worked for many years and retired from the City of Texas City.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Thomas A. Baker and siblings Alma, Alice, Louise, William, Rose Nell and Francis.

She leaves with cherished memories her daughters, Sherry Charles Swain and Caroline Stan Ivey sons, Gary Jackie Baker and Ricky Baker. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Weisner of Mt. Pleasant brother, Lee Born of Houston 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

As the last Charter member of Peace Lutheran Church, Carrie was deeply involved in Altar Guild, Braille workshop and the Keep You in Stiches quilting group. She will forever be remembered for her faith in God, love of family, kind heart and selfless acts for others.

Visitation will be held at Emken Linton Funeral Home on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 10 AM to 1 PM and again from 4PM to 7 PM.

Funeral services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, April 22 at 1:30 PM with Pastor Mathew Brackman officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park East.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peace Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.
