Calvin Sparks

Calvin Elmore Sparks, 95, of Texas City, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at his son's home in Dallas, Texas.

He was born on August 28, 1920 in Ft. Worth, Texas to the late Arthur and Ruth Sparks. He served in the US Army, but later joined the US Navy as a Captain to serve his country during WWII. He graduated from Rice University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Shortly thereafter, he began his 30 year career in Texas City at Amoco Oil where he met Anna Pearl Dunn LeBlanc. They were married for 60 years and raised four sons. He was a loving husband, father, PawPaw and friend.

He was preceded in death by his wife Anna Pearl Sparks and two sons, Andrew LeBlanc and Van LeBlanc.

He is survived by his son Glenn Sparks and husband Oscar Monsibais, Jr., his son David Sparks, 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. A burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas. A visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday September 4, 2015.
