Byron E. Gripp, 80 of Texas City, died on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 8, 1935. Byron attended Texas City High School where he met the love of his life, Patricia Wright. They were blessed with a wonderful marriage for 62 years. He worked for Monsanto/ Sterling Chemical Company for 35 years as a pipefitter and was a member of Pipefitters Local 211 for 63 years. Byron and Pat raised their 3 children in Texas City and were long time members of St. John's United Methodist Church. During his 22 year retirement, they enjoyed traveling around the country in their motorhome and spending time with family.
Byron is preceded in death by his mother, Marguerite Mitchell, his father, Bernard E. Gripp, and his son-in-law, David Sumney. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Gripp; daughter, Sherri Sumney; son, B.E. "Gene" Gripp and wife Pam; daughter, Cindy Fuller and husband James "Buzz" Fuller; grandchildren, Bryan E. Gripp and wife Cara, Kristen Davis and husband Jason, Lindsay Reyes and husband German, Tara Fuller, Brandy McRae and husband Nathan, Brittany Wickey and husband Jason, Tyler Billot, Savannah Billot, and great-grandchildren, Tanner and Emma Davis, Haydyn and Paxton Reyes, Bryson E. Gripp, and Bentley McRae.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 18th, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City, TX. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. John's United Methodist Church in Texas City. He will be laid to rest at Forest Park East Cemetery in League City, TX.
Pallbearers will be James "Buzz" Fuller, Bryan E. Gripp, Jason Davis, German Reyes, Nathan McRae, and Jason Wickey.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John's United Methodist Church building fund.
