Billie Edwena "Stinker" Wingo

Billie Edwena “Stinker” Wingo was born on September 18, 1948 in Texas City, TX to Marie Guillory and Raymond Roquemore.  She passed away peacefully on April 20, 2021 after a long illness.

She was raised in Texas City and this is where she made her home.  She was a wife, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, cousin, and grandma to all of her grands.  She was a devoted friend and considered many of her friends her family.

Before marrying the love of her life, Bill, she ran around with her sisters and friends whether it was in Galveston or running down to Nuevo Laredo for the weekend.  Her favorite things when she was young were music, dancing, and roller skating.

She met and married Bill Wingo and they settled in the Moses Lake neighborhood before moving to her in-law’s house after her father-in-law passed away and her mother-in-law moved back to East Texas.

Days in Moses Lake were ideal, she loved reading and working in the yard and she and Bill were very active in their daughters and grand children’s activities.  Whether it was coaching softball or sitting on the sidelines of t-ball, football, and soccer games to dance and music recitals, they were there.  Many summer days were spent with her sister Toddy with kids in tow at the blue hole.  Many more were spent at the Moore Memorial Library where she shared her love of reading.

She was an avid bowler in the 70’s and 80’s and bowled in leagues with her sisters and mother and with her friends.  One of the best trips that she always talked about was her bowling team taking her father’s RV down to Corpus Christi for a bowling tournament with her team.  Oh, to be a fly on the wall of that RV.

Family was extremely important, vacations revolved around family reunions in East Texas or going to her sister Pat’s in Jacksonville.  The Aley picnic and staying at Grandma Jessie Mae’s trailer playing 42 or Cadillac and the annual Labor Day BBQs in the backyard of the house on 13th were loved by all.  There was plenty of food, plenty of music and plenty of family and friends.  After Bill retired, they enjoyed going to Coushatta as well as Vegas, Branson, and San Antonio.

When Bill passed away in 2005, she became much more active with her friends and played cards, bunko, Pokeno and anything else she could until her health started failing.  She loved to read and loved playing online games with old friends or new friends that she had never met.  More than one person has reached out to the family to say that although they had never met, they were close friends.

Stinker is preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Bill Wingo, her parents, daughter Denise, sisters Toddy and Shirley, brother Eddie, in-laws Ralph and Jessie Mae, brother-in-law Danny, sister-in-law Terry, nephews Jerry, Gary and Eric, niece Jeana and numerous lifelong friends.

She is survived by her daughter Amber Wingo and wife Heather and daughter Bellamy, daughter Cheryl Champagne and children Tameica (Troy) and family Keegan, Jacob, Joseph, Jessa and Levi, Crystal (David) and family Zoe (Dakota, Daniel Jr., and Dallas) and Seth, Cody (Tiffany) and family Colt, Cannon and Carsen.

Sister Pat Stem and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to give special thanks to neighbor Eva Guardiola for her support through the years as well as those that have been there whenever Stinker needed assistance.

Stinker will be greatly missed by all, but no one will miss her more than her little man Xander.
