BILLIE JEAN EVANS FLOWERS FEWELL
Billie Jean Evans Flowers Fewell passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 in Texas City at the age of 87. Billie was born September 11, 1926 in Amarillo, Texas and was raised in St. Jo, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Galveston County and was active in many community organizations. She was a Scout leader, instructor of water safety with the Red Cross and she taught classes at the Womens Center.
Billie was the Director with Texas City Aid and Guidance for over 20 years and was instrumental in starting the DWI Program in the area. She was on the FEMA board during the same time period. She was also a dedicated member of the First United Methodist Church in La Marque and sang in the choir.
Billie enjoyed spending time with her family and outdoor activities such as gardening, boating and traveling.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one daughter, and ex husband. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, James Buddy Fewell daughters, Candy Britt and Jennifer Moree Lamar sons Bill Flowers, Mike Flowers Karen, Randy Flowers Barbara, Doug Fewell Carol, Mike Fewell Kathy and Dennis Fewell Jonette twenty one grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be10 AM Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the EmkenLinton Funeral Home in Texas City. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park in Hitchcock. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 2 from 57 at the EmkenLinton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway 1764 Texas City, Texas.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
