Antonio "Tony" Guerrero of Texas City and Sugar Land, Texas, passed away on May 31, 2015, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 86.
Mr. Guerrero was born in Mexico City, to Francisco Guerrero and Felipa Espinoza. As a young man in Mexico he served in the military and was an avid alpinist. He spent most of his adult life in Texas City where he raised his family and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He dedicated his spare time sharing his Hispanic culture with the community through his painting and keeping the tradition of folklore dancing alive through his work with Familias Unidas. He was also a member of the Masonic Order and Knights Templar.
Mr. Guerrero is survived by his wife of 48 years, Maria Elena Gomez Hernandez; his sons David Guerrero and Gustavo Guerrero; his daughters Elsa George, Rosalia Guerrero-Luera, wife of Alberto Luera, and Rosa Maria G. Brennan, wife of Kurt Brennan; grandchildren Christopher Guerrero and family, Sean Guerrero and family, Tiffany Murders and family, Marco Antonio Ayala and family, John Charles Ayala, Monica Guerrero, Cosme Castillo and Orion Medina Guerrero. He also leaves behind several siblings, many beautiful great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, god-children, as well as many friends including his adopted family Alicia Cervantes and her children Angelica and Joey, his neighbors of Mayfield Park, breakfast club members and the crew at Home Depot.
He is preceded in death by his son Francisco Antonio, his grand-daughter Audrey Sappho, his son-in-law Mr. Larry George, and daughter-in-law Ms. Sherry Lynne Fowles.
Visitation will be held at Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 E.F. Lowry Expressway, in Texas City, on Saturday, June 6th, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., followed by a rosary. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 8th, 11:00 a.m., at St. Theresa's Catholic Church, 705 St Theresa Blvd, in Sugar Land, followed by a reception.
