Adrienne Snyder, 93, of Texas City, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015, at North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio.
Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2015 at First United Methodist Church in Texas City. Visitation will be 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. Burial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Thorndale Cemetery at Thorndale, Texas.
Adrienne Snyder was born October 21, 1921 in Thorndale, Texas to Douglas Madison and Ruby Edith Phillips. The first of three children. She started school in the Salty community and graduated from Thorndale High in 1939. She attended Business School in Austin and was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers in Galveston as a secretary. She married Floyd R. Clayton in 1947 and they moved to a new home in Texas City in 1958. Adrienne retired in 1979 after serving 30 years in government service. Floyd passed away in 1982 and she continued to live in her Texas City home. She married Earl V. Snyder in 1985 and they both enjoyed their second marriage for twelve years before Earl passed away in 1997. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church and spent a lot of time and effort working with the Church Sunday School.
She is preceded in death by parents, Douglas and Ruby Phillips and sister, Gwendolyn Phillips Chappell of Memphis, Texas.
Survivors include brother, Douglas Bruce Phillips and his wife Betty of San Antonio; brother in law James E. Chappell of Memphis, Texas; step daughter Karen Brandenburg of Arcadia, Texas; nine nieces and nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Texas City for their Sunday school program of which Adrienne was very active.
