Dr. Charisma Nicasia Garcia, of Houston, Texas, passed away the 5th day of June 2023, at Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center at 37 years of age.
The funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Emken-Linton Funderal Home in Texas City.
Charisma Garcia was born on June 14, 1985 in Greeley, Colorado. She graduated from McAllen High School, McAllen, Texas in 2003, University of Texas Pan American in 2007 where she did two summer fellowships at University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston and one at Broad Institute (Massachusetts Institute of Technology/Harvard) in Boston; and graduated from Southwestern Medical School in 2011. She did her residency at Hermann Memorial Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas. She was an Asst. Professor Dept of Academic Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine, supervised MS3, NP, PA students, pediatric residents, and Nurse practitioners; attending physician at the Center Greenpoint; Asst Professor Dept of Pediatrics at University of Texas Houston; attending physician at High-Risk Children’s Clinic; attending physician at Legacy Children’s Clinic, and most recently at ABC Pediatric Clinic in Houston, Texas. Honors include 2021 Texas Monthly Magazine Top Pediatrician, 2018 Legacy Community Health Top Doctor, 2014 UT Houston’s Pediatric Residency Med Student Ed, 2007 University Honors Program graduated with distinction of Highest Honors, 2004 UT Pan American’s Profile in Excellence Student of the Week.
Survivors include her father, Pete Garcia Jr; mother, Emma (Sanchez) Garcia; brother, Caleb Garcia and sister, Serenity Garcia; her fiancé, Benjamin Nyberg; three fur babies, Winston, Maxine, and Hammy; her maternal grandparents, Paul & Benita Sanchez of Fort Morgan Colorado, and paternal grandparents, Pete Sr. & Dora Garcia of Pharr Texas; 9 aunts and uncles, and 26 cousins; preceded in death by two fur babies, Duke and Roosevelt.
